  3. Busy looking at what the impact on the NAC system will be if we support multiple Antivirus software programs.
Preliminary impact will be on how the user will be able to get access to Antivirus virus definitions, software upgrades, as well as how the NAC will need to be reconfigured to scan for the different Antivirus software vendors.

  4. IT does not have the funds to procure additional antivirus software. Users will be allowed to download additional (free) antivirus software.

    Flip van Schalkwyk to coordinate:
    1) Settings to the NAC to allow users to download additional antivirus software; and
    2) to make sure the Helpdesk has the correct tools to remove viruses and antivirus software.
Flip can contact Wilhelm with the details of the request.

The NAC is set up to check for specific ant-virus software, if it is installed, updated and so forth.
We hold a repository of the installation packages of the current anti-virus software required to connect to the NWU network, as well as the update packages. This allows the user to re-mediate there computer if they are in remediation, where they don’t have internet access
We will need to look what the impact will be if we need to check for new anti-virus packages, as well as how they will be updated if the computer is in the remediation network, with no internet access
