- Description of the new request
We want to test Microsoft PowerApps as a front-end to the current Excel sheet that the Production Coordinators use to manage the Study Guide Process. They currently only use TRACS for integration purposes

The first application, that was a concept app to see if powerapps could be able to replace Tracs, the license was free or included in the larger MS office license. I could use an on-premise MySQL database using a MySQL connector as a standard connector through a gateway.
In the meanwhile the MySQL connector was changed from standard to premium, that needs a minimum of Powerapps Plan 1 for a license. I didn’t know this and caused a lot of work just to realized NWU office 365 license include the Powerapps for office 365 and not Plan 1 that was assumed.
On 1 October 2019 Powerapps Plan 1 and 2 are being changed completely to an app/user/month or /user/month plans. We will need to buy +/- 65 app/user/month licenses to use the Powerapps apps.
This needs to be taken into consideration when considering Powerapps to develop apps that will use integration with backed systems. The connectors are not included in the MS 365 license.
On the other hand, it is still cheaper than the maintenance cost of a developed application or another bought application.
