Providing a NWU Learning Resource Repository

Project Description

The request was initiated by Rassie Louw (via Adelle Lotter) on 01 October 2018.

Learning Resource Repositories (LRR’s) are technological innovations that host the managing, supporting, sharing and reuse of resources used to facilitate teaching and learning. The hosting must be done in such a way that resources can be managed, designed, integrated, aggregated and sequenced to develop/ facilitate meaningful learning events (according to stated learning outcomes). In the case of the NWU this will be courses presented in modules with study guides divided in study units. Resources may be in-house designed or developed or sourced from other repositories.

Project Discussion 2 Responses to Providing a NWU Learning Resource Repository

  1. There are a few requests for repositories and an amount of more than R1.5m has been paid from CTL strategic funds to AOS for this. The one that needs the most urgent attention is for an OeR repository. A Task team, chaired by Prof Robert Balfour, has this on a list that has been approved bt Senate.

Prof Jaco Olivier has offered to start with drawing up the functional specifications for a repository needed for OERs. A meeting of a smaller team will be held during the week of 24 August.
