VM Architecture refresh

Project Description

Situation/Problem/Opportunity:

It has been identified that the VMWare Architecture needs to be revised in terms of how the disk subsystems have been exposed and allocated. Production systems are affected by TEST/DEV systems and IO has become a major factor in maintaining a stable and predictable environment. The result is that production systems are suffering performance issues, and are becoming unstable. The administration involved in configuring networking requirements and the exposure of disk subsystems, has also become a cumbersome process and also needs to be addressed.

Purpose Statement (Goals):

After a technical discussion and consultation from a VMWare expert, the following has been identified as key to addressing the problem. Split Production systems from TEST and DEV in terms of IO’s. Simplify how Networking and Disk exposure is configured, to minimize the complexity of administration actions. Implement and setup of QoS on the 3PAR
